Adult Day CareAdult Day Care is designed to provide personal care for dependent adults in a supervised congregate setting during some portion of the day. Services offered typically include social and recreational activities and meals.
Caregiver SupportThe Caregiver Support category includes listings for respite services and other resources designed to meet the needs of caregivers.
Case ManagementCase Management programs arrange for, and monitor the use of, community services to help the frail elderly, and/or disabled to avoid or delay institutional placement while fostering independent living. These services are offered by public, nonprofit, and for-profit agencies. See provider listings for more information.
Disabled Persons' ServicesListings for organizations that assist disabled persons in leading independent lives.
EducationThis listing provides contact information for institutions that offer classes in a variety of subjects designed for the lifetime learner.
Elder Abuse Awareness & PreventionAbuse of an elder or dependent adult includes the following behaviors: physical abuse, psychological abuse, neglect, intimidation, cruel punishment, financial exploitation, abandonment, and/or causing mental suffering. Services available to victims of elder abuse include: in-depth information and referral, investigation, assessment, counseling, evaluation, consultation, advocacy, and case management.
Emergency Response Systems/Disaster ServicesThis section provides information for agencies that offer assistance in emergencies when you may not be able to reach a telephone. In this section you will also find information on who to call in the event of a disaster.
Employment and Training OpportunitiesEmployment opportunities have been identified as an unmet need of seniors in Ventura County. Several agencies provide resources for seniors who wish to find employment.
Financial Information and AssistanceProvides listings for agencies that offer assistance regarding various financial matters, such as taxes, utility assistance, and Social Security benefits.
Health Insurance InformationThis listing offers contact information for agencies that provide assistance with Social Security Benefits, SSI, Medicare, and other health insurance issues.
Home Care ServicesAgencies that provide a wide range of health and social services in the home, from nursing care to light housekeeping and errands. See provider listings for specific services offered by each agency.
Hospice Care and Bereavement ServicesThis listing provides information on local hospices, which provide services specifically designed to meet the needs of terminally ill individuals and/or their families. Organizations that provide bereavement services, which offer support to those coping with the loss of a loved one, are also listed in this section.
Housing Information and Home ModificationAvailable in this section is a list of resources for senior housing. Home repair and modification services are also listed in this section, as well as the contact information for the local Housing Authority.
Information, Assistance and ReferralMiscellaneous resources providing general information and assistance for Seniors, Caregivers and Advocates, as well as resources that provide direct referrals for specific services.
Legal AssistanceDirects seniors, caregivers, and advocates to resources appropriate to their legal needs and concerns.
Long-Term CareLong-term care facilities include skilled nursing facilities and residential care facilities. This section includes information on where to obtain a list of facilities in your area, and where to turn if you have an issue to resolve regarding a long-term care facility.
Medical ClinicsNon-profit organizations that assist low-income individuals and families access healthcare.
NutritionResources for nutrition counseling,congregate and home-delivered meals, and additional food sources.
Preplacement CounselingAgencies that provide preplacement counseling for seniors and their families relative to placement in skilled nursing faciliies or residential care facilities for the elderly.
Senior CentersProvides contact information for senior centers throughout Ventura County. Local senior centers operate and coordinate various programs. Examples of such programs are: health screenings, HICAP counseling, recreational programs, physical fitness classes, adult education courses, and congregate meal programs.
Support GroupsGroups that offer moral support, advice, and information on a variety of topics relating to seniors and their loved ones.
TransportationTransportation providers sensitive to the specific needs of older adults and the disabled. Fare costs vary among providers and destinations.
Veterans' ServicesAgencies that offer services to meet the needs of veterans.
